All my posts start out the same. An early morning. A train. Today is no exception. Wilton House is in the countryside so out of London and on to the side with the country. Our tour guide, Josie was an absolute riot. That woman is the epidemy of spunky. Her vocabulary had to have been the most amusing part of my day. The house has been home to the Earl of Pembroke for centuries. The current Earl she described as, "dishy" as she showed us his picture. He's 32. And has done quite a bit to preserve his family's estate. The Earl currently lives in a portion of the house and his fiance will be joining him soon. There are two different types of stone. One that is cooler to the touch (bluestone) and one that is warmer (sarsen). The stone was taken from the mountains in Whales and has been dated back to 3100 bc. How on earth did they get here!
Some weighing 15,000 pounds mind you! The stones create a semetrical cricle that coincides with the months and solstices of the sun. Aliens? I don't think so. Oh the mystery! Plus, how do you think they were set upright and with stones laying horizontally over the top???! Mystery continued...
